Titanic loads are no struggle for Actros
Scottish abnormal load specialist Cadzow Heavy Haulage has taken delivery of a new 250t gcw Mercedes-Benz Actros Titan from Bellshill dealer Western Commercial.
The £180,000 truck was built as a specially prepared 6×4 tractor unit powered by a 448kW V8 engine after which Titan Spezialfahrzeugbau, of Backnang, near Stuttgart, converted it to an 8×4 with an extra steering axle. Titan also extensively reinforced the chassis and relocated the air tanks, batteries, exhaust stack and hydraulic transmission coolers to make room for other ancillary equipment for heavy haulage operation.
It also fitted a 900-litre fuel and a 95-litre AdBlue tank.
Blantyre, Lanarkshire, based Cadzow operates another three Actros Titans but this latest addition is its first new-generation Actros and is fitted with a long distance sleeper cab, aircon, suspended driver and co-driver seats, tinted windows, a pop-up electric roof, a refrigerator and a CD-Radio with Bluetooth phone connection.
Cadzow managing director Jim Macauley said the Titans have always been reliable and man enough for the job with the only outlays being on normal wear and tear items. "Unsurprisingly, our driver Campbell Stewart is over the moon with his new truck," he added.
