Hamm's HD+ heavy-duty tandem rollers
German manufacturer Hamm describes its new HD+ heavy-duty tandem rollers as being based on a new concept with enhanced visibility, easy operation and excellent performance.
The driver's seat in the super-sized cab can be moved over the entire width of the machine to give a perfect view of the drums and the water sprinkling from every position. At the same time, the operating console with the display remains in the field of vision because it is attached to the seat without restricting the driver.
Hamm, part of the Wirtgen Group, is marketing the HD+ with two operating weight categories: the HD 120+ weighing 12.9t and the HD 140+ with an operating weight of 13.8t. There is a vibration and oscillation roller in both weight classes.
A new articulated joint ensures improved driving stability and increased quality when compacting on bends. The offset during crab steering has also been almost doubled in comparison with the previous models in the HD series. This means that the tandem roller has plenty of room to manoeuvre, for neat processing of edges for example.
The water tank has a capacity of nearly 1,200 litres, making it possible to work a whole shift without stopping to refill, Hamm says.
