Trimble has revised its GCS900 Grade Control System with version 11.2 which improves data collection and makes the system easier to operate and more flexible.
Version 11.2 includes a single point mapping function allowing operators to record very accurate point information from the blade, bucket or drum without stopping the machine. A new remote switch can be attached to the joystick and when pressed it instantly collects, records and maps individual bucket positions.
These points can then be named (trench centreline etc) by the operator using the CB430 Control Box and the as-built information can be transferred to the office over the integral wireless two-way data link.
Single point mapping is said to complement the work done by grade checkers and to be particularly well suited for applications where it is dangerous or impossible to place a grade checker in the excavation area.
The latest version also allows operators to switch between various 3D and 2D machine configurations at the press of a button without needing to configure each machine for each sensor combination.
