Liebherr lets out road-rail brake testing facility

Liebherr is offering accredited companies involved in rail maintenance the chance to use the brake testing facility for road rail vehicles at its UK headquarters in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.

The 110m of embedded rail track was originally created for statutory annual brake testing, calibrating, load testing and trialling of the A 900 C ZW Litronic Railroaders and there is also a separate rolling road to test the road wheel brakes.

With what it said is a large and growing population of Liebherr A 900 C ZW Litronic Railroaders and significant forward orders, Liebherr decided to be self-sufficient in testing its own specialist road/rail machines and installed the rail section. The track and rolling road is now available to accredited companies with either Liebherr's or the client's engineer carrying out the brake tests with Speedo verification if required.

The facility can also be used to train or assess fitters for their RPA cards and operators or machine controllers wishing to obtain or renew their Sentinal Cards.
