Heavy rock work in Sweden

Heavy plant operator Peter Sjogren from Sweden recently sent in some photos from a job he was working on for a couple of weekends.

Peter works for local company Kampedal who are based in the Stockholm area.

The job which is ongoing involved blasting around 23,000 metres of rock and spoil and then after the blast Peter went to work on the the company's Caterpillar 330DL HD excavator seperating rock from the spoil prior to crushing.

It is estimated that when this job is completed the company will have blasted and crushed somewhere in the region of 150,000 metric tonnes of rock.

The company have set aside 5,000 metres to use on the building of a new yard but that will not be until 3 years time.

A vast quantity of this crushed material will be kept for use on the company's own projects around the Stockholm area but some will be sold to other contractors as and when.

Before blasting commenced Peter graded out an area where the crushed material will be stockpiled.

The Cat 330DL HD that Peter was using is fairly new and only has 770 hours on the meter, the machine is primarily used for feeding the crusher on site.

In this "view from the cab" video we can see Peter at work separating rock from the spoil.

Thanks to Peter for sharing his story with us here at the Digger blog.
