Something a bit different from our resident man down under Gary Steen in the shape of these Haulmax trucks.
Australian company Haulmax provides a purpose built product with inherent mining application design which offers cost effective haulage solutions over long distances in off highway applications.
The models in use with Gary's company are the 3770D which are designed specifically for high production long distance hauling where width restrictions apply.

Gary says they are great over long distances where the haul is considered too far for a motor scraper. The Abi group are currently running them on return trips of over 12km.

These trucks seen above being loaded by Komatsu PC1250 excavator use a lot of Caterpillar components similar to those used in Cat 769 & 773 quarry trucks and amazingly can carry 70-80 tonnes per load.![]()
The power train is designed and built by Caterpillar starting with a high torque electronic Caterpillar 760hp engine running through a matched 7-speed power shift transmission. Caterpillar oil-cooled multiple disc brakes offer exceptional fade resistant braking and retarding. Automatic Retarder Control (ARC) uses the oil-cooled rear brakes to enhance vehicle performance and productivity.

I must agree with Gary when he says that they kind of remind him of the old Euclid trucks of the 50's but with modern technology and styling they are an impressive truck and they have been getting fantastic reliability from them.
