With the holiday season getting into full swing just thought it would be a great idea for readers of the Digger blog to share their photos of machines and interesting pieces of plant that they came across whilst overseas.
To kick the topic off here is a snap that has been sent into the blog by one of our lovely lady readers who wishes to remain anonymous.
This photo was taken by our reader while she was on a boat trip in Istanbul at first glance it looks like a New Holland machine but a closer look confirms it to be a Turkish built Hidromek machine.

I found this photo to be of particular interest as we never see Hidromek machines here in the UK.
And here are a few from my personal collection, firstly a fantastic shot of a Caterpillar 322B at work in the centre of Nicosia the capital of Cyprus during last years holiday.
It was very hot that day 41C at midday! and I was wondering if the machines aircon was working?

There were men down in that trench too which was totally unsupported, obviously no health and safety police on that site!
On a trip up to the Troodos Mountains in Cyprus I came across this old Caterpillar 977K track loading shovel which was in excellent condition, note also the old Ford D series trucks in the background.

Here is a shot I took in Furteventura in 2004 of a Caterpillar grader at work just up the road from our hotel in Jandia. What a beautiful setting to be working in!

And here is a Caterpillar D10N taking a well earned siesta on the same job in Fuerteventura where it was being employed to rip the heavy volcanic rock that is found everywhere in the Canary Islands.

So I hope that has given you some inspiration to send us your holiday snaps of the yellow iron variety.
No doubt we will be able to sort out a prize for the best entry of the summer.
Happy snapping!
