Whilst at the recent SED 2009 show I was given the chance to take a test drive in one of my favourite machines.
I am no stranger to the B series models as I have been operating a CX130B for the past year and indeed before the 130 was delivered I spent a couple of weeks on a CX210B demonstrator on the site in St Austell Cornwall.
It was great to be back in the seat of a 210B as they are a real drivers machine, using tried and tested Japanese technology they have a great feel of quality to them. Ultra smooth hydraulics combined with plenty of power from the 157hp Common rail Tier III engine which is said to reduce vibration and noise makes these machines a real pleasure to operate.
There are three different work modes to choose from: Automatic, Heavy and Speed Priority are available on the right hand console for simplified machine operation, but like most operators I am not too keen on the different mode settings and just tend to put the dial in the top speed priority position.

When digging in hard ground an Auto Power Boost increases standard bucket digging forces by 10 percent to get you through the toughest spots with the greatest ease, this is also a useful tool when extracting tree stumps or large rocks.
The spacious cab provides excellent visibility to attachments overhead or in the trench thanks to narrow posts on the cab and a large one-piece right-hand window gives a clear view to the inside of the right track.
The operator is well catered for in this machines cab with the standard features including adjustable and retractable armrest console with position memory, self adjusting air conditioning and heating system, cup holder, high visibility side monitor display with automatic brightness, RH front console with clock and mobile phone holder, Integrated cool box and 12V and 24V DC accessory sockets.

The only problem I found at SED was that there were so many customers waiting to have a test drive on the machine and as such my time in the seat was pretty limited. I was so pleased with the performance of the 210 that I could of stayed in there all day!
