SGB cements 'marriage' with name change
A decade after becoming part of the Harsco organisation, SGB has been renamed Harsco Infrastructure and will be grouped with its US equivalent Patent, and German formwork specialist Hünnebeck. The new business will have a £786m turnover and be able to deliver a wide range of access, formwork and industrial services to clients worldwide.
"Our vision for the next five years is to partner with major construction contractors and industrial process operators and to support our customers to grow in existing and emerging markets," explains Paul O'Kelly, managing director of Harsco Infrastructure's European operations. To achieve this he has combined the three individual firms and will be concentrating on sectors where expertise, knowledge and safety management disciplines add value.
There will be an emphasis on larger clients that work internationally and the company believes most of the opportunities will be in the infrastructure sector. "A lot of the work that we're winning is related to major infrastructure projects including transport, utilities and power," said marketing manager James Hurst.
SGB in the UK covered everything from hiring out single ladders to designing and building complex formwork and temporary support systems. O'Kelly has also restructured the UK business so customers no longer have to deal separately with the scaffolding, access and formwork parts of the business.
