Yanmar expands MM Series engine

in E.P.Barrus, Engines, Yanmar on 07 October 2009

The MM Series has been designed as Yanmar's diesel power solution for small agricultural machines and utility vehicles, lawn and garden equipment and compact generators.

The 3TNM68, the first in the series, is a 784cc, 3-cylinder engine with Yanmar's proprietary indirect injection technology to achieve low fuel consumption and low emissions. The latest model is the 3TNM72, 903cc, 3-cylinder engine, which delivers 20 percent more horsepower than similarly sized competitors, it is claimed. Compliant to Tier IV regulations, these ultra compact, high performance engines also use Yanmar's latest structural technology to achieve low vibration, noise and compact size.

Yanmar says that with the new cylinder body design, it has been able to achieve higher output despite the compact size.

Due to the compact footprint, the MM Series fits applications that have tight space requirements and high, reliable power output. In addition, the universal base attachment design makes the MM Series an easy replacement.

Rigidity is achieved through incorporating the ladder frame structure in the cylinder block. This allows the engine to operate with low noise and vibration.
