EC Hopkins Sole UK Agents for PowerGrit Utility Saw Chain

E C Hopkins has recently announced that the company is now the sole UK agents for PowerGrit Utility Saw Chain, which is a revolutionary new underground pipe cutting product, which significantly reduces the difficulty of conducting this type of job. The product is ideal for use within Utilities, Underwater, Construction, Commercial Infrastructure and Fire & Rescue.

According to EC Hopkins general manager, Steve Seedhouse, PowerGrit technology allows access to the entire cut from one position, which reduces the amount of excavation required. He said, "Traditionally, gas powered cut-off- saws with a circular abrasive or diamond blade are used for cutting pipe, and workers are regularly getting injured, in fact some of the larger contractors are now outlawing the use of cut-off -saws to safeguard their employees."

The PowerGrit is a diamond-coated chain designed to cut through ductile iron, cast iron, PVC, HDPE and other types of pipe as well as a broad range of other hard materials. Seedhouse continued, "It's faster and easier than other methods, and more importantly offers improved operator safety due to access, control and reduced rotational forces."

PowerGrit Utility Chain can be run on either the ICS 633 Petrol Chainsaw or the ICS 880 Hydraulic Chainsaw. These saws do not fall in the same category as wood cutting chainsaws and therefore do not need special training/qualifications or the operator to wear chainsaw trousers etc.

EC Hopkins is the latest company to commit to the forthcoming SED 2011 exhibition. For further details click here.
