Why use SED Buy and Sell?
SED Buy and Sell is the marketplace for new and used construction equipment including excavators, loaders, dump trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, telehandlers, cranes plus a host of other products. Buyers can search our extensive products database using the Advanced Search option or quick search option on the homepage of the website.
We recommend that you sign up for our Email Alerts. We’ll then send you an email alert with suitable products direct to your inbox.
Tips on searching the database, including keyword searches.
Buyers can select the Advanced Search option or Quick Search Option.
By selecting the Quick Search option you’ll need to include relevant keywords to describe the product you are searching for. You can further refine your search by looking for particular phrases or combining words using AND, OR, AND NOT, " " or *.
Here are some examples:
Dump AND Truck This combination will find adverts that contain both the words 'Dump' and 'Truck', but not necessarily together.
Dump OR Truck This combination will find adverts that contain either the word 'Dump' or 'Truck'. This is a broad search, and will return many results.
Truck AND NOT Dump This combination will find adverts that contain the word 'Truck' but NOT the word 'Dump'. This is useful if there are adverts that you do not wish to see in your results.
“Dump Truck” Include " " around the phrase and only adverts containing this phrase will be included in your results.
If you want to open your search to include all the variations of a word, just add an asterisk after the 'stem'. For example if you type Tru* the results would include 'Truck' and 'Trucks'.
To search for vehicles or other products in a particular location then also populate the ‘Where’ box on quick search. You can search by place name e.g. Northampton or postcode e.g. NN1 1JA.
How can I filter/expand my search results?
Using the Sort By option on the results page you can filter your results by price and when it was loaded on the site. You can also expand the search area.
You also have the option to view the results in list form or to view photos only or in map form.

How do I Save Searches?
Rather than complete the same search every time you visit the website we’ve introduced a Saved Searches option. If you’ve completed a search and you are happy that the results are relevant then why not save the search. Simply click on the ‘Save this search’ option on the results page, a new window will open asking you to name the search and save it. Remember, you can register up to 10 saved searches.
To access your saved search/es click on the Saved Searches option in the navigation bar and log in to your account.
How do I delete a Saved Search?
Click on the Saved Searches option in the navigation bar and log in to your account. You’ll have the option to delete any Saved Searches once you are logged in to your account.

Register for SED Buy and Sell Email Alerts and you’ll never have to worry about missing out on your ideal product. It only takes a couple of minutes to register and we’ll email you when relevant products are advertised on the website. You can register for up to 3 Email Alerts.
How do I register for Email Alerts?
Click on the Email Alerts option on the navigation bar to create an account. You’ll then be given the option to create an Email Alert. You can register for up to 3 Email Alerts.
How do I delete an Email Alert?
Click on the Email Alerts option on the navigation bar and log in to your account. You’ll then see the option to delete your email alert.
How do I change my password?
Firstly you’ll need to log in to your account. Once you are logged in select the Update My Details option on the navigation bar. You will then be able to change your password.

How can I contact an advertiser about their product?
If you are interested in purchasing a product and would either like to make an offer or ask the seller for more information, select the Click here to contact seller option on the advert details page. This can be found under the Details section on the advert.
I’ve seen a fraudulent or offensive advert on the website. What should I do next?
Regrettably a very small number of fraudulent adverts have been placed by people posing as sellers. These adverts often offer products for very low prices in order to attract enquiries from buyers.
The adverts either do not feature a phone number or, if they do, feature an incorrect phone number. The seller often asks for contact to be made by e-mail only.
On contacting the seller by e-mail, it transpires that the equipment is not actually based in the UK but is based in Europe. The e-mail goes on to inform the potential buyer that contracts need to be drawn up and that personal details need to be exchanged before the transaction can proceed.
Be cautious if the advert or ensuing emails are full of spelling mistakes and/or bad grammar, as this seems to be a trait of fraudulent adverts. All buyers should be cautious if a potential seller cannot give you a telephone number or insists on communicating by email only.
Don’t hand over any money or personal details until you’ve seen the vehicle or piece of equipment or are satisfied that the vehicle, equipment and seller are genuine.
