Rental management solutions specialist MCS released an upgraded version of its Customer Web Portal application, MCS-web.

MCS-web, specifically designed for the rental market, enables rental companies to create, manage and deploy a password-protected extranet site that offers their customers product catalogue and contract information. Their customers can resolve queries, raise on-hire and off-hire requests, get quotes and place rental orders.

MCS says that there are significant benefits to having a customer web portal. For the hire company, it increases sales to existing customers and attracts new ones, MCS says. It also improves both customer service and internal efficiency and productivity, thus reducing administration costs.

For the hiring customer, a web portal provides secure, anytime access to a customised and personalised online space that puts them in control of all their hire operations, MCS explains. It provides access to all the customer's hire and contract information including invoice history, quotations and product information, as well as critical health & safety information.

Mark Nolan, product development director at MCS, says: "This latest version of MCS-web is the result of an on-going programme of innovation and improvement by MCS intended to deliver consistently superior functionality based on the very latest technology. It will keep us ahead of the game and deliver all the performance and functionality demanded by the rental industry."

One of the key areas of improvement is within the rental company's on-line product catalogue. With the latest version of MCS-web, items can be displayed with more detailed descriptions and images, improved product specifications, and associated documentation such as safety certificates and operating instructions.

Rental customers also benefit from a quick ordering option via the new 'Hire Now' button associated with each product or accessory. This improved feature automatically generates the contract and sends a confirmation email to both the rental company and the rental customer.

Other new capabilities include the online administration of off-hire requests, access to online proof of deliveries, a customer 'agreed rates' page and the ability to create and display customised reports for individual customers.

Nolan adds: "Our latest version of MCS-web is the most advanced Customer Web Portal software available for rental companies today. It offers a comprehensive online experience that improves efficiency, enhances customer service, strengthens customer relationships and ultimately increases revenue for the rental company. This makes it critical for rental companies in these tough times where customer loyalty is vital in maintaining profitability."
