WD-40 sales boom as big freeze bites
Sales of WD-40 are running at three times the seasonal level as motorists, homeowners and businesses utilise its de-icing qualities to combat the big freeze. Senior brand manager, Neil Gow, said: "As people and businesses struggle to cope with the cold weather, many are now discovering the extra uses and benefits a can of WD-40 can provide.
While the lubricant is better known for cleaning and freeing rusty parts and mechanisms or stopping squeaks, Gow points out that it can also free frozen car locks, helps start damp engines and prevent windscreen washer spray nozzles from freezing. Around homes and businesses Gow said WD-40 can loosen padlocks, prevent snow sticking to shovels and satellite dishes, and help stop plumbing joints from freezing.
